Tuesday was a day of complete surprise for my family. We arrived at the hospital at 7 am completely convinced we would walk out with another girl. After the birth of five beautiful girls, 14 years of marriage, and countless girl parties why would anyone think otherwise?

When asked what I would name our new child I always said, “I’m only thinking of girl names.” I really meant that. Our prayer was just for a healthy child and delivery.

Our doctor was totally caught off guard that day as well. She was secretly told by another doctor that it was a girl. By stealth, she had caught a glimpse during a recent sonogram.

God had something up his sleeve. He had a boy – all 9 lbs and 4 ounces of him. What a wonderful addition to our family.

Remember that with God surprises are possible. Hold on. Never stop believing. Just hang around and be thankful. What God will do will surprise you.

Speaking of Abraham Paul wrote in Romans 4:20-21, “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.”
