A couple of days ago I was driving my kids to school and turned on WTOP. They were asking listeners to phone in and share how they felt about men wearing makeup. How did the DC area listeners really feel about men wearing eye liner, or touching up a blemish. I didn’t check in later to find out. I honestly didn’t get it. What? Why even ask? Do guys really do this now? For me, that’s like asking how we feel about guys wearing turds on their heads. I just don’t get it.

There is, I believe, a move in our culture today to feminize men, to emasculate them, and to soften them. I found some stats recently that opened my eyes again to this growing reality. More men in their 20’s and 30’s are choosing to stay at home and live with their parents. The average age of the die hard, video game player today is 35. After we play with the game controller we play on the internet with pornography. $3,000 is spent on pornography online every second. Men today are trying to prolong and extend adolescence instead of being men.

The church and the culture desperately needs strong, capable, secure, hard-working, tough, caring, faithful, and godly men. Without them what will the next generation do? Without anyone to modeling manhood will they want to embrace manhood?
