Why should I come to church this Sunday?
I can think of no better way to start off a brand new year. Good things happen when we put God first in our life. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” Give God the first day in the first full week of 2016.
Are we starting a new series?
That’s another great reason to attend this Sunday. You don’t want to miss the launch of our new series “Detox.” Toxins are poisons that creep in, slow us down, make us sick, and rob our joy. Interacting daily in a broken world we are all surrounded by toxins. As we start 2016 it’s a great time to detoxify ourselves – spiritually, emotionally, and physically. By God’s grace we can flush out the junk so we can start fresh in 2016.
Are we doing a 21 day fast again this new year?
For the past few years at VC we’ve started each new year with a 21 day partial fast. Why would we do that? Fasting is the spiritual practice of abstaining from certain foods, comforts, or habits for the purpose of drawing closer in fellowship with God. When we draw close to God he draws close to us. James 4:7-8 says, “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
This year we’re going to do a different kind of 21-day fast that will tie in with our new series – “Detox.” Over the next three weeks we’ll focus on three areas – spirit, soul, and body. We’ll talk more about it this Sunday, but here’s how it will look in a nutshell…
Week 1 – Spirit Detox – What could you abstain from for one week to purify your spirit?
Week 2 – Soul Detox – What could you abstain from for one week to purify your soul?
Week 3 – Body Detox – What could you abstain from for one week to purify your body?
So, three different, one week fasts to help us cleanse and renew our spirits, souls, and bodies. I hope you’ll jump in and give it a shot.
Are we still doing a Dream Team Huddle?
We thank God for our Dream Team. It’s the talented group that makes ministry happen each Sunday. They make the ministry of VC possible.
Our huddle is a time when our volunteers for that Sunday get together for encouragement, connection, inspiration, and prayer. If you’re on the schedule we hope to see you there this Sunday at 9:45 AM.
How can I jump in and serve at VC?
There is nothing more rewarding than using your God-given abilities to help others. We are blessed so we can be a blessing.
I invite you to join the VC Dream Team. Here’s a list of areas where you can make difference.
